Art and Medicine

My first blog post.

Who saw this coming?! Not me. But I had a realization, a literal “light bulb” moment while talking to someone about my line of work and creating more of an online presence. Actually, I can’t take credit for the idea – someone else suggested I start a blog to extend my knowledge of skincare products and procedures and it just made SO MUCH SENSE!! Why didn’t I think of this before?! A place where I can educate outside of my Instagram stories, that will last more than 24 hours, and where I can type more than 2,200 characters. I have gotten so much support lately, like, way more than I ever thought possible, from my follower friends on Instagram and it has been so encouraging getting positive feedback! I live to learn and love to teach, so it warms my heart to hear that people enjoy learning about skincare from my stories.

Let me backtrack for a minute, I am a registered nurse working in the field of cosmetic dermatology; a very sought out, competitive, and sometimes superficial and shallow field of work but I am here to keep it REAL with Y’all.  There are a lot of negative connotations and taboo thoughts associated with the products I work with. What I do is not about changing the way people look, rather enhancing your natural beauty and accentuating the features you love the most about yourself. I am trained to use scientific and mathematical formulas to create balance and symmetry of the face for a natural and aesthetically pleasing appearance. I am here to educate and break the stigma associated with anti-aging products such as neurotoxins and dermal fillers.

Educating others about healthy lifestyles and preventative medicine is why I went to nursing school and my love for art and design is what fuels my passion as a cosmetic nurse. When you look your best you can feel your best and I have plenty of patients who can attest to that!
